NAA Awards 2014 now open for entries – a great way to increase the profile of your company!

The Northwest Automotive Alliance Business Awards provide automotive companies with recognition for their achievements. Winners will be presented with their awards at the NAA 4th Annual Networking Dinner on Thursday 6th November at The Mere, Spa & Golf Resort, Cheshire

All automotive businesses who are members of either the NAA or the NAA Business Excellence Network are welcome to apply for as many of the Award Categories as they are eligible and wish to do so. By entering these awards each company will gain recognition and publicity for their achievements, successes and accomplishments.  The winner of each category will be presented with a certificate and an award. We have increased the number of awards by one this year and again our thanks go to the generosity of our sponsoring companies.

The closing date for the awards is Thursday 31st July 2014.

To enable all applicants to prepare for the awards submission, our Company of the Year Sponsor, Morson Group, has volunteered to host and run an application workshop to be held on Wednesday 2nd July commencing at 12.45pm at Adamson House, Centenary Way, Salford, Manchester M50 1RD.

Here are more details on the awards for 2014:

    Trade Award: Sponsored by UKTI
This Award is for companies who have been involved in exporting their products during 2014. The winner will need to demonstrate their marketing strategy and delivery status of the strategy. They will also need to share details of the actions that they have completed (such as show attendance, market research etc) and also the overall results in terms of leads and orders. It is important to include quantified evidence within each submission.

Innovation Award: Sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover
This award is for technical innovation and is related to either a product or a process.  Innovation projects entered for this category would typically have had the benefit of grant funding (either TSB or other) during the year. Innovations and the award application should detail demonstrable, quantified benefits. Credit will be given for positive environmental impact, proven results, unique and innovative solutions.

Supplier Excellence Award: Sponsored by SMMT Industry Forum
This award will go to the manufacturing company that has made measurable progress towards operating an integrated and collaborative relationship with its customers, both internally across functions and with its own supply chain partners. The judges will look for an integrated supply strategy that includes the whole organisation, from raw materials or component procurement to customer delivery.   Particular attention will be paid to companies that demonstrate innovation and measures to improve business performance and achievement in changing their operation to achieve greater agility, efficiency and customer response.

Entrants will need to be prepared to nominate one customer organisation to be interviewed for feedback on their customer service experience.

The award process will include an on-site visit and feedback on the results.

Logistics Excellence Award: Sponsored by DHL plc
This award is for businesses that can demonstrate all round logistical success, innovation and above all excellence. This success can be focussed on general business performance, launch of a new product or development of a new logistics process.

Business Excellence Award – SME: Sponsored by Bentley Motors Ltd

Business Excellence Award – Large Company: Sponsored by Electron Technical Solutions
The Business Excellence award is for companies that have demonstrated significant improvement in their business performance following their involvement with the NAA Business Excellence programme. Your project may have involved prioritising project(s) through a benchmarking and/or business planning process. Projects must have been supported by the NAA’s Business Excellence programme 2011-14 and can be diverse, ranging from lean manufacturing, to procurement support, to marketing projects. The applicants should provide information to support their business improvement, including scope of the project, plus the short and long-term benefits. The projects do not need to have been fully concluded, as long as there is sufficient data for evidence of improvement.

Community Outreach Award – SME & Large Company: Sponsored by Festo
The award will be given to an SME and Large company which can demonstrate that it takes its social responsibility seriously and is also that it is keen to work with young people; with a view to recruiting and developing them into our future engineers and leaders.

NAA will be looking for employers which demonstrate a commitment to working with their local community; typical activities may include:

    • Working with young people (e.g. through site tours, offering work experience)
    • Running an apprenticeship programme
    • Working with educators and advisors
    • Supporting and encouraging employees to participate in outreach activities (e.g. becoming school governors, STEMNET ambassadors)
    • Sponsoring young people related events
    • Other community related activities

To ensure opportunities for both SME and Large companies to apply for this category, a decision has been made to create two awards, both kindly sponsored by Festo Ltd. This will ensure all levels of the supply chain can aspire to apply and promote their activity in this area.

Company of the Year Award: Sponsored by Morson Group
This award is for businesses that can demonstrate all round success. This success can be focussed on general business performance, launch of a new product, development of a new process.  There is no application form for this award, the winner will be selected from all of the other award categories.
