NAA Member News: LCR 4.0 project video case studies launched

The LCR 4.0 Project has assisted and supported 200 local SMEs within the manufacturing industry and has produced video case studies explaining how new technologies can offer real benefits to businesses…

LCR 4.0 is a UK manufacturing first that aims to put the Liverpool City Region at the heart of an evolution which is set to transform production in the modern world economy.

Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), LCR 4.0 creates a collaborative community that connects SMEs to expertise and support from key knowledge assets in the region.

A dedicated LCR 4.0 team helps SMEs explore the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies by providing fully-funded world-class practical support ranging from research and development, knowledge transfer and the acceleration of ideas from concept through to commercialisation.

By exploring the challenges and opportunities of Industry 4.0 together, LCR 4.0 helps SMEs to increase productivity and de-risk innovation.

    LCR 4.0 will:

    • Deliver fully subsidised support to 300 SMEs in the Liverpool City Region
    • Enable collaborations between 200 businesses and partners
    • Support 70 new product development cases across a number of firms
    • Create 60 new jobs in supported businesses

Since its inception in November 2016, LCR 4.0 has assisted a number of businesses and has completed projects including factory simulation, data collection and analysis, systems integration, improved connectivity and even the creation of smarter products. The LCR 4.0 team helps businesses deploy their digital strategy and adapt to the competitive industry.

LCR 4.0 supports SMEs engaged in manufacturing and the supply chain (including big science, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, low carbon and renewable technologies and digital and creative industries) within Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral, Halton and Knowsley.

The LCR 4.0 Partners include the Virtual Engineering Centre (University of Liverpool), Sensor City, The STFC Hartree Centre, Liverpool John Moores University and the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
