    NAA Member Profile: Assembly Solutions

Assembly Solutions Ltd (ASL) manufactures electrical cable assemblies, control panels, wiring looms and harnesses. The company offers a diverse range of products from simple wire and cable preparation to highly complex wiring harnesses and full equipment build

ASL carries out contract manufacturing, and automotive represents a growing proportion of the company’s business. ASL has operated extensively in the area of commercial vehicles, manufacturing complex wiring harnesses for buses and trucks, working with companies such as Optare, Alexander Dennis and Leyland Trucks.

Currently, ASL is carrying out increasing amounts of work on hybrid and electric vehicles, working with high voltage cables.

Moving forward, the company’s managing director Graham Balshaw says that ASL’s size and skill sets are ideal for motorsport, as well as for niche vehicle manufacturers.

In addition to the manufacturing of complex wiring assemblies, ASL is also investing in capital equipment to manufacture more basic electrical components in the UK such as battery cables, at competitive prices.

ASL is also growing its business to serve the aftermarket needs of car manufacturers.

ASL was founded in 1995 and the business has experienced significant growth over recent years, moving into new 32,000 sq. ft. premises two years ago with the help of Regional Growth Funding. ASL currently employs around 50 staff at its purpose-built facility in Bolton and it is very much a family-run business. The company is ISO 9001 accredited.

ASL has an international dimension – it has its own supply partners in the Far East, and it is also growing its export volume to similar markets.

ASL has previously been a member of the NAA, and Graham has recently re-joined in order to once again become an active member of the North West automotive community. www.assembly-solutions.com
