Continuing from the original 2007-2013 DigitME program, DigitME2 is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and delivered by the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) Burnley Campus, DigitME2 supports small to medium-sized manufacturing companies in Lancashire in a bid to help them become Industry 4.0 ready.
The fully funded program focuses on 3D Printing, Robotics, Automation, The Internet of Things and Data Processing and will help businesses grow and develop helping them adopt new technologies and change processes to become future ready manufacturers.
The University of Central Lancashire is offering eligible Lancashire based manufacturing SMEs 150 hours of fully funded support in order to help assess current manufacturing technology levels and undertake short term research projects to develop the manufacturing process, grow their business and become ‘Industry 4.0’ ready manufacturers.

TrED: A free skills boost for businesses in the North West
A brand-new, regional programme is offering funded training to employers of all sizes across the North West.
learndirect, working in partnership with the Lancashire and Liverpool Enterprise Partnerships, secured funding from the European Social Fund and the Skills Funding Agency to support businesses to boost the skills of their workforce.
We’re offering a bespoke development programme to raise attainment levels, increase Apprenticeship participation and reduce skills shortages that can restrict growth and productivity.
In addition, learndirect has drawn on their hundreds of courses and qualifications to provide training packages on;
- Customer services
- Information Technology
- Management and team leadership
- Business administration
- And much more.

Growth Support Programme
Lancashire entrepreneurs are being encouraged to start their high growth businesses with help and funding available through the BOOST Programme. Support is also available for young businesses, with real ambitions to grow.
The support includes 121 coaching, seminars and masterclasses, action learning, networking and signposting to other relevant support.
Lancashire Manufacturing Growth Fund
A new service for Lancashire Manufacturers, including Specialist manufacturers.
Do you have a project in mind that would create jobs and or develop new products?
If so, the Lancashire Manufacturing Growth Fund, a part of BOOST, could offer a grant of up to 30% on a £10k project.
The project also offers manufacturers support to
- Develop and Introduce new products to market
- Improve their manufacturing efficiency
- Identify new markets
- Secure advanced technology training.
