Chennai is among the largest automotive clusters in India. Home to the global majors such as Ford, Hyundai, Renault Nissan, Ashok Leyland and BMW, amongst others, who have their facilities here, Chennai also has over 350 Tier I and II suppliers and more than 3000 SME Tier III and IV suppliers. Companies such as Visteon, Delphi, Robert Bosch, Lear, Hwashin, Motherson, Unipress, Valeo, Mando, etc., have large manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu. Three Chennai based industrial groups – TVS, Rane and Amalgamations Groups – constitute more than 22% of India’s components production. The cluster is also home to the largest consolidated capacity for tyre manufacturing in the country. The webinar aims at providing a holistic view on the ecosystem of one of the largest automotive clusters in India.
The webinar will be addressed by experts from the industry and representatives from UK companies in Chennai to answer queries from participants. UK companies registering in the webinar would also be provided with a general overview of the support that would be provided by UKTI for the visit/study of the Indian market.
The webinar would also be a prelude to the 8th International Mobility Conference and the 1st Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress to be hosted towards the end of this year. The webinar would also be an initial prelude to Automotive Testing Expo to be hosted in Chennai in early 2014.
