Synopsis
Horizon2020 is the European Commission’s flagship programme for Research and development. Running from January 2014 to December 2020, the Commission has earmarked €70billion to support both the R&D and business communities across Europe.
20% of this sum is “ring-fenced” for small businesses and access routes and participation rules have been significantly altered from the previous FP7 program which comes to and end after seven years in December 2013.
One such new departure is the jauntily titled “SME Instrument”, which is for Small Businesses only and allows single companies to apply for feasibility (€50,000) or demonstration grants (€1-2.5Million) to rapidly bring new ideas to market. Successful applicants will also be offered free coaching to support their project as it develops, a process managed by the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).
Run by both The SME National Contact Point and EEN, the event will outline where small businesses can access both collaborative R&D funds through the main body of H2020 and also how any business with an innovative new business idea and European ambitions can compete for support under the new SME instrument.
Who Should Attend?
Any SME with an innovative business idea, wanting to understand if this kind of funding will be useful for them.
It is no longer just for R&D businesses!
