How to Climate Proof your Business and Supplier Contracts, 21 May 2014
Start date: 21/05/2014
The Automotive Sector and its supply chain is one of the most important industries in Cheshire & Warrington. Like other businesses, the sector is increasingly being affected by severe weather events such as flooding, high winds, ice and snow and disruption to power supplies and transport links
A Workshop for the Automotive Supply Chain in Cheshire and Warrington
7.45am – 9.45am
Venue TBC
Whilst most large businesses have measures in place to deal with these events, it is well recognised that smaller businesses are far less likely to have taken steps to improve their climate resilience. The insurance industry has found that 80% of businesses affected by a major incident either never re-open, or close within 18 months.
To assist businesses in understanding, preparing for and recovering from climate impacts and protecting their supplier contracts, the Cheshire & Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has commissioned a series of support measures. This workshop will introduce the background work that has been carried out and will help businesses to understand the impacts of severe weather events, to put plans in place to become more resilient and to develop business continuity procedures.
A new document “Weathering the Storm” will also be launched. This has been produced specifically for Cheshire & Warrington and aimed at helping smaller businesses to take action to protect themselves and their supplier contracts against climate impacts.
Further support will be available later in the project and future funding may be available for sites and businesses to invest in resilience measures. We would like to hear from you what types of support would be most useful to yourselves.
