WHAT TO EXPECT

Sensor City Liverpool is a company formed by UoL and LJMU to manage and operate a sensor-related business accelerator and incubator to be based at the gateway of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. Its objective is to drive economic growth through open innovation and knowledge transfer. Both universities have significant know-how and expertise in sensor technologies and their development and implementation.

This event aims to demonstrate the potential global impact that sensors will have on a diverse range of sectors, including aerospace, automotive, life sciences, security and defence and energy, with presentations from leaders in their field (including international speakers). In parallel with the talks, the event will showcase cutting edge developments in sensor technologies and their applications in a diverse range of fields.

LJMU and UoL have a track record in delivering similar events. A specific example of this is the ICST 2014: The Eighth International Conference on Sensing Technology held in September 2014. This was a 3-day event which attracted 180 participants and where 32 countries were represented. This event offered support for the crucial links between technological devices and the world around them in order to benefit multiple areas from the health care sector through to sporting and military applications.

In addition to this LJMU and the University of Liverpool have hosted a number of sector-specific events aimed at bringing together business professionals and academics with a vested interest in the development of sensor systems and technologies – to network, share knowledge, capability and industry insights.
