FREE 2-day Additive Manufacturing training: 13th & 14th and 14th & 15th January 2020
Start date: 13/01/2020
Cost: Free to attend
Overview
This two-day training workshop is delivered by the Northern Automotive Alliance, in partnership with FDM Digital Solutions and Training 2000. It is delivered via The A.U.T.O. 4.0 project, an Erasmus funded project which has developed open education resources (OERs) to support the upskilling of the automotive workforce in the new technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4), thereby securing employability. The workshop is free of charge and aimed at skilled workers operating in the automotive industry.
Objective
The digital technology of Additive Manufacturing / 3D printing is the focus of this workshop, primarily around that of Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) using Ultimaker printers.
Participants will be given an automotive case study / problem to solve, and then gain hands on experience with current Software and Hardware, as they develop, design and print a 3D solution over the 2-day workshop.
Participants should have some prior experience of Autodesk Fusion 360 CAM or similar, however, the workshop will also include some Autodesk support.
The 2-day workshop format is as follows;
Day 1
9am-12pm: Additive Manufacturing briefing
Overview of the technology& materials
Overview of the project; automotive case study and the problem to solve using Autodesk 360.
12-1pm: Lunch
1-4pm: Design for manufacture using Autodesk 360
Day 2
9am-12pm: Learn how to set up a 3D printing machine (Ultimaker)
3D Printing, (est. build time to be around 2-3 hours)
12-1pm: Lunch
1-4pm: Evaluation of solutions, presentation of solutions
Industry value add case study.
Note: 10 hours of Self-learning material is also shared with participants, additional to the 2-day workshop.
By the end of the course
Participants will have an awareness and understanding of the key areas of Additive Manufacturing, and will have gained hands on experience in the application of problem solving, AM design and printing.
Who should take the course
This course is suitable for skilled workers operating in the Automotive sector, ideally from companies who already have access to a 3D printer and wish to gain more hands-on experience.
About the trainer
