The presentation will run through the FTCC collaborative research project to develop an innovative lightweight 12t [GVW] future truck chassis concept giving details of the new design solutions found and the testing carried out during the project.
The FTCC “Proof of Concept” project was led by Leyland Trucks in close cooperation with both Sapa Profiles UK who provided the aluminium extrusions and CSA Group, who assisted with the validation of the truck by defining and conducting vehicle and rig based testing. The aim of the project was to deliver 30% weight saving on chassis and front suspension components to realise an increased payload at lower fuel consumption, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions.
At the end of the presentation the FTCC technology demonstration vehicle can be viewed.
