Premium product manufacturers that have capabilities in specific disciplines are being invited to attend a Low Volume Premium Product Suppliers Event, to introduce their companies to potential customers and showcase their services, as well as network with other organisations. Expression of Interest forms must be completed by 27th February 2015.
Premium product manufacturers that have capabilities in the following disciplines are being asked to attend this event:
- Leather wrapping, stitching or other craft skills
- Wood craft skills
- Wood finishes
- Technical painting
- Chroming or plating
- Manufacturing with luxury interior materials or finishes for aesthetics
- Polishing, plating and alternative treatments ore processes that give high quality surface finishes
- Any process that give luxury or technical finishes to traditional or new materials
- Anything that is applicable to a luxury interior finishes
- Mood lighting & heating
- Carbon Fibre
- One-off unique skills
The last item of ‘one-off unique skills’ could potentially cover a number of areas.
The event will be held by the Automotive Council and its partners on 21st April at Williams F1 Conference Centre, Oxfordshire to bring together premium product manufacturers and premium automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce motor cars, Toyota, Nissan, Aston Martin and Bentley. The event will include a seminar session, exhibition area, and a series of ‘one to one’ introductory meetings with representatives from OEM purchasing departments, aiming to connect capable suppliers and buyers with specific requirements.
During the seminar there will be an opportunity for you to hear from OEMs, industry organisations and learn the new supply guidelines specifically developed for suppliers of low volume premium products and services. As well as attending the event, manufacturers are invited to exhibit their goods and services at the event in the exhibition area (spaces are limited so manufacturers should indicate their desire to exhibit when submitting their Expression of Interest).
The information provided on Expression Of Interest forms will allow the automotive OEMs to identify manufacturers that match their purchasing requirements and request a ‘one to one’ meeting to discuss how they could possibly work together.
Participation to the event is strictly by invitation only and attendance will be prioritised based on validation of the information that you have provided to the OEM panel. If you are successful in your application you will receive notification and full attendance details and conditions.
In order to be considered for an invite to the event, there are three general criteria that you must meet
- You must be able to demonstrate a high standard of work and a willingness to achieve the industry certification standard
- You must have a manufacturing or sales presence in the UK or be based outside the UK with an interest in investing in the UK
- You MUST have a capability in a discipline detailed above

Background to the event
The Automotive Council, an industry-government collaboration set up to improve the long term development of the UK Automotive industry, is committed to improving British innovation and premium product manufacture in the automotive supply chain. Through cross sector collaboration between the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd (SMMT), British Marine Federation (BMF), Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) and the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space trade organisation (ADS) the Automotive Council has set out to create a community of specialist UK Automotive Premium Product Suppliers, along with developing a set of OEM approved guidelines/standards specific to the development of low volume premium product manufacturers, all aimed at making supplying to the automotive industry a much more simplified and robust process for low volume suppliers.
