Figures released by SMMT show that exports of cars to China have increased seven-fold since 2009. Only the UK bought more British-built cars than China last year, with exports to China greater than combined UK exports to Brazil, India and Russia.

This webinar will cover how UK companies can tap into the growing market in China and some of the international opportunities available through SMMT.

Joint Ventures to China (Simon Duan, Technology Specialist, UK Trade and Investment) –

China is now the largest automotive market with tremendous growth potential. The quality of Chinese cars is rapidly increasing but is still not reaching parity with multinational manufacturers. Demand for quality components from local suppliers creates drive to collaborate with foreign suppliers.

By tapping into China market, UK companies can become part of this growth story. This can be successfully achieved by partnering with Chinese auto companies.

Some case studies of successful partnerships will be discussed. The relationships could lead to exports, technology licensing, JV in UK or JV in China, or possibly an equity investment.

International opportunities with SMMT (Sarah Thevenet, International Manager, SMMT)

This session will present you with the list of SMMT supported International events for 2015/2016. SMMT will take UK delegations to a combination of international conferences, motor shows, trade missions and aftermarket trade shows, to some other key markets such as Germany, China, India and Brazil.
