    North West Mission to Malaysia & Singapore: 2-6 June 2014

    In association to BAE Systems, UK Trade & Investment invites you to join a multi-sector trade mission to Malaysia & Singapore

    The trade mission coincides with the SMIDEX 2014 on 4 – 6 June at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The show will offer an ideal opportunity to develop opportunities through further business to business matching.

    Why Malaysia?

    Malaysia is strategically located along the Straits of Malacca and the southern part of the South China Sea. The country is rich in natural resources, including petroleum, tin, timber, copper, iron, ore, natural gas and bauxite. The Malaysian economy enjoys a competitive advantage in producing and processing primary products due to an abundance of natural resources combined with world class transport and telecommunications infrastructure. UK goods exports to Malaysia in 2013 were £1.658 billion which is up 8% from 2012. The total goods trade between UK and Malaysia in 2013 was £3.34 billion, up 2.6% from 2012. Since 2012, UK goods exports to Malaysia have grown by 30%.

    Why Singapore?

    Singapore is a model of economic development becoming an advanced, modern economy ranking 3rd globally in terms of GDP per capita. Singapore is predicted to continue growing relatively rapidly, for one of the richest countries in the world (and it is expected to rise further up the per capita income Economic Freedom. Most work in Singapore is in the service sector & poverty levels are low compared to other countries in the Region. Singapore has the world’s highest percentage of millionaire households. Tourism forms a large part of the economy with over ten million visitors each year. Singapore also offers competitive income tax rates, various financial assistance schemes and tax incentives to attract and assist companies to grow their businesses.
