SMMT Events: Meet the Buyer – Open Access events 2013/2014

    Start date: 19/11/2013
Cost: Invite Only (Expression of Interest form attached)

Following the success of SMMT’s Meet the Buyer events over recent years, our next supply chain initiative will be a series of Open Access events. Selected UK suppliers will have the opportunity to meet with purchasing and engineering teams at various UK based OEM and Tier 1 manufacturers

There is genuine continued interest and commitment from global vehicle manufacturers to source more components locally in the UK. This was reinforced by the government’s Automotive Strategy published in July that highlights the need to convert opportunities for increased local sourcing by UK-based OEMs (£3 billion) into increased business for the UK supply chain.

    Open Access 2013/14 Series

UK based vehicle manufacturers will open their doors for a number of specially selected UK suppliers to meet with purchasing and engineering teams. The first invite-only event will be Open Access: Ford on Tuesday 19 November. More Open Access events will be announced to take place at various manufacturing sites in the first of quarter of 2014. The demand list from Ford purchasing and engineering teams is still being confirmed and by registering you interest you can keep up to date with the commodities and technologies required.

The events are a progression from SMMT’s Meet the Buyer but will be more specifically focused on the demands of each host manufacturer and will include the opportunity to discuss technologies with engineers.

    Event

Each venue will be host to a small group of UK supplier exhibition stands. The suppliers will be selected based on criteria given by engineering and purchasing departments at the particular manufacturer.
