NAA Event Review: Fitfactory – Digital Transformation for SMEs
The latest in our series of webinars this month was Digital Transformation for SMEs – A Benefit Not a Burden, in conjunction with Grant Thompson from NAA member Fitfactory.
Grant began with an overview of Fitfactory and its journey so far in enabling manufacturers to SCALE through digital transformation:
• Streamline
• Connect
• Analyse
• Level-Up
• Extend
Participants were then taken on a typical transformation journey, covering:
• Where to start
• How to know what you need
• Recognising barriers, including cost, management buy-in, implementation timelines, lack of resource
• Addressing common pain points, including manual Excel entries and duplication, insufficient reporting capabilities, managing capacity and priorities.
An overview of what technologies are available was then provided, together with suggestions on improving existing operational processes.
Grant emphasised that understanding why you want to digitalise as a business is key before embarking upon the transformation journey.
Finally an overview was given of the Fitfactory Manufacturing Execution System (MES), which provides a complete view of the shopfloor via:
• Machine monitoring
• Production scheduler
• Shopfloor data capture
