Employer ownership: skills projects for the automotive supply chain

Invitation to submit applications for skills funding in the automotive supply chain.

The government is inviting proposals for projects that will increase the supply of skilled staff in automotive supply chain companies. It wants to support companies who need to significantly increase the skills of their staff. This should be in companies that contribute to the effectiveness and growth potential of automotive manufacturing companies.

The competition is open to enterprises of any size. Government will contribute up to 50% of training costs for training that is of benefit to other companies and up to 25% for training that only benefits the applicant company. The government contribution will be capped at £1.6 million. Projects will not be considered where the government contribution would amount to less than £100,000.

    Project proposals must:

    • Provide training to staff aged 19 years or older
    • Be submitted by single companies with the intention to train staff in their employment
    • Provide value for money for public investment
    • Funds will be made available from the Skills Funding Agency on receipt of evidence that the training has been undertaken
