In the Driving Seat: Lawrence Davies, Deputy CEO, Automotive Investment Organisation, UKTI
Lawrence Davies, Deputy CEO, Automotive Investment Organisation, UKTI, suggests that a career of procuring components from automotive suppliers has turned him into someone who is fascinated about breaking secret codes, what can we learn from this?…
Name
Lawrence Davies
Company
Automotive Investment Organisation, UKTI
Position
Deputy CEO
Apart from that
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply
Association with NAA
I have known Carol and worked with the NAA for around 10 years, in my previous position as Director of Purchase & Supply with GM and my current position at the AIO. My view is that the NAA gives immense support for companies in the North West and has opened up excellent communication with the Government and OEMs which we support.
Personal
I live in Hertfordshire with my wife and our 9 month old golden retriever. We have two grown-up children and two young grandsons. I keep fit by jogging around the surrounding countryside, regularly taking part in 10k runs and, some years ago, I also ran the London Marathon. I relax by playing the acoustic guitar but tend to stick to the music from my era!
Favourite football team
Tottenham Hotspur (sorry North West!)
Musical performer
The Eagles, Ed Sheeran and Adele
Movie
The Italian Job (the first one)
Books
I have recently been reading the books by Sinclair McKay on Bletchley Park, ‘The Secret Life of Bletchley Park’ and ‘The Lost World of Bletchley Park’. I find the story of the wartime codebreaking centre and the men and women that worked there fascinating, and I visited Bletchley Park last year.
Best motoring moment
Driving the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to LA, with my family, which was absolutely stunning!
