NAA 2013 Award Winner Profile: Company Of The Year Award
Sponsored by Morson International and presented by Paul Moogan, Client Services Director
How the award winner was assessed
For this year the potential companies that could win the award were those who had already won an award during the evening.
The judges reassessed all of the winning companies’ applications and eventually identified one that met this criteria:
- Engagement with the NAA and the vision for excellence in its business
- A good ambassador for the North West
- Could showcase the capabilities of the North West as a region
The NAA is about the community of companies in the North West and therefore the winner needed to be based within the region.
Although there are a number of major OEMs in the North West region, the NAA decided that larger companies would receive accolades and awards nationally and that it is more important that at these awards we recognise the depth and capability of the SMEs in the region.
Winner – Sigmatex (UK) Ltd; Highly Commended – Scorpion Automotive
The judges had great difficulty in separating two companies, so the decision was to have both a winner and a highly commended. Scorpion Automotive received a highly commended certificate and Sigmatex was the winner of the 2013 Northwest Automotive Alliance Company of the Year Award.
Chris McHugh, Technical Director of Sigmatex, said “We’re delighted to have received both the Business Excellence and the Company of the Year awards from the Northwest Automotive Alliance. We have invested significantly in research to develop carbon fibre as a material for use in the automotive industry and it’s fantastic to receive recognition for our efforts.”
