    NAA Event Review: BAC

Our latest networking event in March saw us visit Speke-based NAA member BAC for a joint networking event with IPA (innovative daughter company of RDA UK). We were hosted by Jim Ashley, Emily De Silva and Jeremy Tear from IPA/RDA UK, and Luke Ryan from BAC.

Following the initial welcome address, Jeremy gave a presentation on DNA (Digital Novel Assets) in Intellectual Property, which covered the following areas / aspects:

    • The Knowledge Revolution
    • Intellectual Property – Value and Protection
    • Legislation – Catching up with Technology
    • Accounting Convention – the New Rules
    • Generating Assets inside the Entity
    • Funding and Protection in the Future

Delegates were then given a comprehensive tour of all areas of the BAC Mono manufacturing facilities, including:

    • Innovation
    • Design & Development
    • Vehicle Simulator
    • Additive Manufacturing
    • Final Vehicle Assembly

The Mono has been exported to over 40 territories around the globe, broken a whole host of performance records on the track and is widely considered as the best driver’s car around. In terms of manufacturing, BAC has been responsible for a number of world-firsts in the car industry that have brought about impressive performance and weight-saving enhancements on the Mono. BAC was the first company in the world to develop hybrid carbon-composite wheels in collaboration with British performance wheel manufacturer, Dymag. Plus, it scooped another world first when it became the first manufacturer to develop a car featuring panels incorporating the use of graphene – an innovative and lightweight material.

The brand however remains true to its British roots; with a total of 1,250 bespoke components used to build Mono from 100 suppliers, 95% are based in the UK – 45%, meanwhile, are from local companies in Liverpool and the North West region.
