NAA Event Review: NAA Networking Event hosted by Toyota, 12 July
Our last networking event in July saw us visit Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Deeside Engine Plant, where we were hosted by Simon Foster, Assistant General Manager and Jane Hendy, Principal Specialist – Human Resources.
Attendees were given an overview of Toyota’s operations in Europe, followed by an overview of the Deeside manufacturing plant, which employs 600 people, with casting, machining, assembly and quality assurance facilities and in 2023, produced 260,000 ZR-Series engines for the UK and a number of export markets.
Toyota is committed to a carbon neutral society and offers a range of propulsion solutions:
• BEV
• FCEV
• HEV
• PHEV
It has a sustainable carbon neutral mobility strategy, where energy / fuel must be carbon neutral and technology diversification is provided based on customer needs.
The Deeside plant’s strategic priorities are:
• Global No. 1 plant for the ZR-Series powertrain
• Global No. 1 zero CO2 plant
• Electrification future
These will all be achieved through developing their people as their enduring strength.
Attendees were given a tour of the working facility and were also able to view a range of finished products, including an example of the British-built prototype Hydrogen Hilux FCEV pick-up truck.
