NAA member news: NAA member BAC builds and hands over Mono to new owner as part of IFB
The International Festival for Business drew to a memorable close with the help of BAC, due to the company handing over a Mono which had been built near Liverpool’s Pier Head in full public view during the course of the IFB event
The delighted new owner – Brazilian, Alexandre Gama – was presented with the keys on the BAC stand by the President of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, Lord Derby.
Brazil is the latest country to join the export list for the Mono, taking the total to 14 countries, across 4 continents.
Mr Gama – the global chief creative officer of advertising agency BBH enthused – “I live for ideas – this is my business and my background – and when I first saw this product I could immediately get how well-made it was. I fell immediately in love with the sight of the car.”
“I don’t collect cars – I like to drive them. And I could see that this was designed for the driving experience. It is something about purity. Purity is very difficult to own because there is a lot of compromise in this world. This is a no-compromise idea and Liverpool and the UK must be very proud of this car.”
Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson was also on hand to welcome Alexandre to Liverpool and congratulate him on his purchase – “Mono is a prestigious brand, and it’s been turning heads throughout the festival. BAC has done a great job in promoting IFB, selling the Liverpool brand and supporting the ‘Best of British’ push. I am delighted that the car that has been built during IFB has been sold to someone overseas, because that is what the festival is about, international markets and exports, creating new relationships and promoting the business and investment offer of the city.”
BAC Director Neill Briggs paid tribute to IFB2014 – “We are delighted to welcome Alex and his family to Liverpool to present him with his Mono. It is a proud day for all concerned.”
“The International Festival for Business has been a great success and it is fantastic news that it will be returning to the city in 2016. We have sold cars and made significant new commercial and business contacts from around the world. Our participation really typifies the importance of the festival and how it can act as a catalyst to future growth.”
“Building the car over the course of the festival has given everyone a terrific insight into what we do. In addition to the business being done at IFB it has been an invaluable opportunity for us to engage with the public, and we hope to have inspired a few more people to become the designers and engineers of the future.”
