NAA Member News: Spark EV Technology strengthens leadership team with CCO appointment
Spark EV Technology has announced that Richard Welford has become its chief commercial officer with immediate effect, supporting Spark as it engages with a number of business growth opportunities around the world.
Welford, who has more than 35 years industry experience, has previously held senior positions at companies such as Jaguar, Autoliv and Tata Technologies, joined Spark earlier in the year as a non-executive director (board of directors) and has been helping Spark respond to a record number of international growth opportunities.
Commenting on the new appointment, founder and chief executive officer of Spark EV Technology, Justin Ott, said: “When I founded Spark, I set out with a clear vision of improving the overall user experience of all types of electric vehicles and our technology has the power to do this. Richard has a wealth of knowledge and contacts within the industry and in his new role he will be able to support the uptake of our technology helping to encourage mass EV adoption.”
Commenting on his appointment Richard said: “I am delighted to be extending my role at Spark. Its solutions are perfectly aligned to the rapid promotion and uptake of EVs across the globe, addressing the very real issues associated with the management of vehicle energy, and the accurate prediction of range. The Energy AI technology creates enabling insight, increasing driver confidence and opens up EV access for all. I am delighted to be working with this talented team during such an exciting period in automotive history.”
Spark believes that choosing to move from Internal Combustion Engine to Electric Vehicles should not represent a compromise for the driver and realises that there needs to be a solution to remove range and charging anxiety from EVs for good. As a result, its energy AI solution provides best-in-class range prediction accuracy based on historical and forecast vehicle usage so that the driver will always have confidence in how far they can travel – enhancing trust in EVs and alleviating anxieties commonly associated with Electric Vehicles.
