NAA Member News: UTAC invests in three new EV test rigs
To meet growing customer demand due to the exponential development of the electric vehicle market, the Group has decided to expand its EDU driveline test laboratory at UTAC Leyland.
At its laboratories in the UK, Germany and the USA, UTAC carries out testing on electrified drivelines and continues to invest in order to support its customers and their goals of developing zero-emission vehicles.
Thanks to the Group’s expertise, the site is now able to offer new test systems that are designed, supplied, installed, configured and commissioned in-house, enabling rapid action to be taken. This investment will see three new test rigs come online, all of which will be available in the first quarter of 2024.
The test rigs adopt the same modular configuration as all transmission test laboratories, allowing maximum flexibility when developing solutions for different test scenarios.
The site has a stock of over 100 dynamometers with different torque and speed curves to suit testing requirements, which can be moved between our facilities if required, allowing us to provide the specification and configuration customers need, where they need it.
At the same time, UTAC is expanding its test team, both through a recruitment drive and by providing training and support to ensure that members have everything they need to test future products and provide data to customers.
