NAA Member News: YoYo Multidrops enables commercial vehicle loads to be exchanged in under two minutes

After five years of development, YoYo Multidrops is launching a new system for the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector which will revolutionise logistics for the ‘last mile drop’…

YoYo MultiDrops™ transforms a LCV 3.5t/4.25t chassis into a multi-use, multi-role vehicle, capable of being used in mixed fleets with unlimited types of bodies. The unique system enables loads to be lowered to ground level and exchanged in under two minutes. It is particularly suited to mixed fleets as YoYo MultiDrops creates flexible LCVs, which can load and unload different body types – refrigerated, dropside, box, Luton, cage – saving time, running and capital costs. Full or part loads up to 1.5t are loaded or unloaded in as little as 80 seconds. See the video here.

Lifting and lowering is controlled by a single operator, usually the driver, via a two button handset, obviating the need for additional on-site lifting equipment. YoYo is non-hydraulic, robust and simple to use.

The patented system is self-monitoring to ensure safe operation in a smooth, controlled action and comes with a host of additional safety features. This leaves users free to monitor their surroundings for potential hazards.

Retro-fits are easy on commercial vehicles up to five years old, making them suitable for existing fleets. As a fleet changes, existing load frames can be re-used on new vehicles, enabling cost-effective business expansion.

Comments after test trials, pre-Covid, include: “The YoYo system will enable us to fundamentally change the way we do business. We can be much faster to respond, more cost effective and genuinely able to meet the demands of our customers.”

Derek Bowes, Director at YoYo added: “We’ve calculated that over three years, investment in the system with three loadframes – which could be three different types – can save over £120,000 compared with the cost of buying and operating three different vehicles.“

Demonstrations are running through June and July, which you can request and gain more information at www.yoyomultidrops.co.uk
