    NAA Member Profile: Quickgrind Limited

Quickgrind specialises in the design and manufacture of solid carbide and high speed steel-cutting tools…

    Company Name
    Quickgrind Limited

    Where are you based?
    Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

    What do you do?
Quickgrind has been at the forefront of tool design and manufacture for over fifty years, engineering is in our blood. We have an international reputation for solid carbide and high speed steel-cutting tools.

    What markets are you in?
We work across many markets including but not limited to extrusion die, fabrication, die and mould, aerospace, automotive, medical and general engineering industries.

What can you offer to NAA members?
Our objective is to help clients increase their productivity by optimising metal removal rates, increasing tool life, supplying the right solution, and developing a long-term mutually beneficial partnership. We achieve this by ensuring application of the correct technology, specifying the right tool for the job, and sourcing the best products from across the market.

Our philosophy since the company was founded over 50 years ago is based on continuous improvement using its integrated engineering cycle. This approach has become so successful that it has become known as ‘Total Solution Engineering’ and has been expanded to include a range of compatible services which includes tooling innovation, performance improving application service, “good-as-new” remanufacturing and tool management solutions. Our philosophy of continuous improvement and risk management enabled us to transition quickly to ISO 9001: 2015, a whole two and a half years earlier than required.

For the quality of the products and the service provided, Quickgrind tooling is very competitively priced. It might not be the cheapest initially but over the lifetime of the tools and following the full Quickgrind Process it should be possible to achieve up to 50% saving over a 2-year period.

    QuickCam – Ultimate Profitability
Our CAM and assessment service gathers the information we need to create the perfect tool for the application, ensuring we understand the full requirements and any limits such as the customer’s component material, machinery and CAM software. Offering the latest machining strategies for turnkey solutions, toolpath optimisation, tooling packages, fixture design and more, QuickCamPro provide clients reduced cycle times and tooling costs, increased output, better due date performance and improved capacity, all of which equals more throughput and greater profit.

    QuickLab – Tooling Innovation
Our analysis of the customer’s machining operations via Quickcam allows us to develop the perfect tool for the job and advise on how to reduce production time and costs by using it in the best way. Using our specialist expertise and hi-tech equipment we can produce 3D simulations of the tool for approval. Once approved, we deliver the tool along with technical back-up and ongoing support.

    QuickVend – Tool Management
Quickgrind believes that clients would benefit hugely from a tool management solution which is best deployed and controlled through the use of vending machines. Our existing customers have reported many benefits in terms of secure stock management, inventory reduction, increased machine uptime, reduced purchasing administration and costs, all of which compounded have a high cost-saving effect. We believe that so much time, resource and capital is tied up through inefficient tool management, that we founded our own company, Quickvend LLP, and through significant investment are imminently releasing our Next-Gen tool management system.

    QuickEdge – Remanufacture
Our remanufacture service can give you up to over x10 extra usage out of your carbide tooling. Our process is much more than a standard regrinding process. It is a complete re‐manufacture to make the tool back to as good as new retaining the original geometry. The price for this service is competitive when compared to regrinding. To maximise the process and achieve maximum cost reduction, careful and active tool management is required. With material costs continuing to increase you can’t afford to ignore the benefits that remanufacture offers.

    • Extremely attractive price/performance over the life of the tool
    • Reduced delivery issues and stock outs
    • Tools controlled by size, number of reissues and remanufactures
    • Reduced logistics costs

Remanufacture doesn’t mean compromising on quality. It has always been our policy to produce tools of such high quality that they can be used more than once. Which means that even after seven remanufactures you will continue to enjoy new tool performance.

How would like to work with members?

    • Constant innovation as the “norm” and made available as soon as demanded
    • We aim to be your trusted partner in innovation and stability, completely aligned with your requirements

    What is your unique offer?
What if you could have the optimum tool, with the marginal cost increase more than covered by improved production throughput and efficiency? With Quickgrind, you can. Welcome to a world of Infinite Possibilities.™

At Quickgrind we do not limit ourselves to standard ranges, and we do not limit you to tools we happen to have in stock and want to sell you. Instead, our mission is to provide you with solution-based tooling, to give you the right tool, for the right job, at the right price.
