In the Driving Seat: Helen Symonds, HR and H&S Manager, Sigmatex (UK) Limited
If you speak to Sigmatex’s HR and H&S Manager, Helen Symonds, and she sounds highly energised, it’s probably because of all the running she does

Personal
Married with two teenage boys – eldest son, Elliott, 18, has just embarked on University life at Sheffield Hallam undertaking Accountancy and Finance Degree. Youngest son, Thomas, 15, has just started year 11 and taking GCSEs next summer.
I have lived in Thingwall on the Wirral for the past 8 years and my main interest, aside from my family, is that I am a keen runner. I run 3 times a week and have taken part in many races, including the Chester Half Marathon and many 10k runs throughout Wirral and Merseyside. I run mainly, however, for the fun of it – keeping fit and clearing my head after an extremely hectic day at Sigmatex!
I love to ski each winter and being a tad competitive, I love the more challenging runs and try to ski as fast as my husband and children, although I’m ashamed to admit that the children over took me a while ago in terms of speed and lack of fear!
Favourite football team
I am sorry to say that I really don’t enjoy football but I love most other sports. I love watching tennis (although I don’t play) and have been totally inspired by Andy Murray’s performances this year during Wimbledon and the Olympics.
Musical performer
At the moment, I love Chris Brown and Taio Cruz – probably the influence of having teenagers (I think I’m still one myself sometimes!). I really love anything with a good tune to that I can sing along to (definitely a wannabee popstar at some time in my life).
Movie
Favourite all time move is “Notting Hill” I can watch it over and over and never tire of it.
Books
Recently finished reading the Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson – have struggled to read anything as exciting and intriguing since.
Best motoring moment
Jaguar Land Rover Experience of course!
