    Car for Young Drivers (CYD)

    Car for Young Drivers (CYD) is a Technology Strategy Board-supported project to develop a vehicle for young drivers that is safe and cost effective to buy, run and insure. The vehicle will be lightweight with low emissions and is being designed to appeal to the market of 16-24 year olds.

    The project will create a new type of car, designed from first principles, with support from the insurance industry, in order to reduce risks for young drivers.

    The vehicle will have novel driveline technology, a lightweight impact-resistant body and features designed specifically to appeal to young drivers.

    Led by mi Technology Group, the other project partners are Juno Racing, Oaktec, GOTec Vehicle Systems, RLE, the University of Central Lancashire and the Northwest Automotive Alliance.
