NAA Member News: 3D 360 leads EV and Hybrid training in Cumbria as the county’s only IMI Approved Centre

3D 360 has delivered the first cohort of learners through its Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Skills Bootcamps at the Whitehaven Skills Academy, cementing its position as Cumbria’s only IMI Approved Centre for EV training.

The programme helps technicians, garages, service centres and fleets build capability fast with extensive live workshop time, high voltage safety, diagnostics and fault finding. Learners complete IMI Levels 2, 3 and 4 and can apply new skills on day one back at work.

New cohorts are open now with funded and subsidised places available to Cumbria employers and residents.

Lee Fogg, Director at 3D 360, said: “Businesses in Cumbria should not have to send staff out of the county to gain EV skills. Our EV specialist centre puts hands on IMI training on the doorstep so teams can upskill with minimal downtime and start servicing EVs with confidence. The first cohorts have completed with excellent results, with learners already applying new skills at work.”

From a learner’s perspective, Neil Schofield, Owner of Electric Executive Cars Cumbria and Electric Taxi Cars Cumbria, has just completed the course and commented: “It is a fantastic opportunity to gain more experience and a better understanding of EVs and hybrids. We will make the training part of our induction for all drivers and staff. We covered how cars react to temperature, why maintenance matters and the safety precautions when working on EVs. The training has even given me the idea of opening our own workshop and employing our own staff to look after our EVs.”

“Cumbria needs more EV technicians, so we have created the Whitehaven Skills Centre to deliver exactly that,” added Lee Fogg. “Our programmes are hands on and IMI accredited, built for working technicians rather than classroom theory, focused on getting people confident, safe and competent so they can start earning from EV work straight away.”
