Those that attended the recent NAA visit to Bentleys Crewe site would have been made aware of their large-scale rooftop and carport solar PV scheme. This supplies a significant share of the factory’s daytime electricity demand and underpins its “carbon‑neutral dream factory” positioning.
The rooftop and carport arrays result in a combined 36,418 panel system. With around 10 MW of installed capacity, the systems generation is able to meet up to 75% of the site’s average daytime electricity needs and, at times, 100%.
The Crewe factory and headquarters are certified CO₂‑neutral, with solar PV forming a key pillar of Bentley’s strategy to transition the site and brand toward lower‑carbon, sustainable luxury manufacturing.
But the benefits go far beyond large users. Many NAA members in the wider supply chain can enhance their Net Zero progress and Scope 3 reporting through on-site renewable generation. Major manufacturers increasingly assess supplier carbon performance, so solar PV can strengthen accreditation, support tender bids, and secure long-term relationships.
