NAA Event Review: Businesswise Solutions webinar
Our most recent webinar event last month – Energy Security 2026 – was hosted in conjunction with Nelson-based NAA member Businesswise Solutions and examined how UK automotive businesses can respond to volatile energy markets.
UK industrial electricity costs remain structurally high – around 2.2 times French levels – while gas frequently sets electricity prices. Geopolitical disruption, constrained storage and global LNG competition therefore create procurement risk.
The overriding message was that organisations cannot control wholesale prices, but can manage how they purchase energy, what they are billed and which reliefs they claim.
Recommended actions included adopting hedging strategies, auditing invoices, reviewing capacity and power factor, correcting gas offtake quantities and checking Climate Change Levy relief.
Automotive businesses were also urged to apply for The British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS) by 30 November 2026, with savings of up to 25% – Businesswise Solutions can provide NAA members with support when applying.
Longer-term opportunities discussed included efficiency monitoring and behind-the-meter solar and battery systems.
Finally, case studies demonstrated £150,000 in annual savings, 20% lower electricity bills and nearly £4 million over five years through relief schemes.
