Event review: The NAA at the Cenex Low Carbon Vehicle Event 2014

The NAA once again took a stand at the UK’s leading low carbon vehicle show, Cenex LCV2014, on 10/11 September 2014, at Millbrook Proving Ground. The companies exhibiting on the NAA stand are even featured on a video of the event produced by TV presenter Robert Llewellyn in conjunction with LCV media partner Green Car Guide

LCV is the UK’s leading event for companies that want to supply technologies to the low carbon vehicle industry. This year the following companies exhibited on the NAA stand:

    ACAL Energy
Making hydrogen fuel cells cheaper, more efficient and more durable

    Far Composites
Design and manufacture of composites to deliver tomorrow’s materials today

    FDM Digital Solutions
Additive manufacturing and 3D printing to allow the design and testing of parts without the need for high cost tooling

High Speed Sustainable Manufacturing Institute (HSSMI)
Harnessing the UK’s world-leading research base to provide commercial value and skills for the UK’s manufacturing industry

    Sigmatex
Developing and manufacturing carbon fibre textiles for composite material applications

    Automotive Comms
Specialist marketing and communication for the low carbon vehicle sector

    Car for Young Drivers (CYD)
A Technology Strategy Board-supported project to develop a low cost vehicle for young drivers to buy, run and insure

STRIVE (Simulation Tools for Rapid Innovation in Vehicle Engineering)
An AMSCI-funded project to significantly reduce timescales for the development of new vehicles by the use of high fidelity simulation and immersive virtual prototypes

Should your company attend LCV next year?
Here’s feedback from some of our exhibitors at this year’s LCV event:

James Saunders from FDM Digital Solutions met up with the new £1bn Advanced Propulsion Centre at the event and said “We thought the LCV show was great, being part of the NAA stand is a really cost-effective way to exhibit at such events, and we ended up with a number of good leads to go at. The NAA stand also looked excellent.”

Brendan Bilton, Chief Commercial Officer, ACAL Energy, added: “Thank you for all your help in setting up the stand and the PR materials. It was my first visit to LCV and I thought the show exceeded my expectations by quite some way. The stand and location were very good and all in all an excellent show which we will attend as part of NAA next year.”

“Thank you for your help in the organisation of LCV – I speak on behalf of my team when I say we really enjoyed the event and found it incredibly valuable.” Victoria Tewes, HSSMI.

Carol Holden commented “Each year the companies on the NAA stand appear to get more out of the event, resulting in a lot of interest from NAA members for next year already. The LowCVP Awards Dinner is also now incorporated into the event, so that increases the already excellent networking opportunities.”

The NAA took two tables at the LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards Dinner – where Robert Llewellyn also acted as the (highly entertaining) Master of Ceremonies. The NAA sponsored one of the Awards, the 2014 Outstanding Low Carbon Publication or Report, which was won by Cambridge Econometrics with a report entitled ‘Fuelling Europe’s Future’ which sheds new light on how Europe’s economy could be strengthened by using low carbon vehicle technologies to reduce spending on oil imports.

The NAA is recruiting NOW for LCV 2015 – please contact Carol if you would like to reserve a space.
