NAA Member News: Force Technology springs into action with a PhD project researching valve train optimisation
Force Technology has teamed up with Lancaster University’s ‘Centre for Global Eco-Innovation’ to create an Engineering PhD project from September 2017…
The industry-led project, spread over three years, is titled ‘Predictive Valve Spring Dynamics for Valve Train Optimisation’, and is focused on optimising engine valve train performance and emissions in engines, for use in motorsports, automotive, rail and marine applications.
Finite element analysis and predictive dynamic analysis will be used to develop an optimised approach for the design, simulation and test of valve and injection springs for use in high performance engines.
Simon Lonsdale, Technical Director of Force Technology, said “This is a great opportunity for us to continue our development in leading-edge technologies for spring and force applications. We have worked with Lancaster University for a number of years and they are a great partner. We look forward to working with them on this exciting project.”
