Industry Event: Make UK National Manufacturing Day, 26 September 2024

The third National Manufacturing Day (NMD) will take place on Thursday 26 September 2024.

Industry trade body Make UK is spearheading the campaign and once again is inviting every manufacturing company across the UK to take part in this national day of celebration. The idea is simple – you just have to invite a section of the local community into your business. Showcasing first-hand the breadth of diverse and well-paid career opportunities on offer to either schools, colleges, friends and family, and local job seekers.

Last year, hundreds of businesses took part in the day and found the national celebration to be a wonderful recruitment tool to fill their vacancies and encourage new talent into the sector. Look at some of the events which took place here: Gallery 2023 | NMD 2024 (nationalmanufacturingday.org)

It’s really simple to sign up –  Get Involved | NMD 2023 (nationalmanufacturingday.org)

All you need to sign up is your company name, a simple description of what you do and a contact email – Make UK can help you work out the details of the event in the coming weeks. There are plenty of resources and ideas already on a dedicated website to help with planning. Find out more here: Home | NMD 2024 (nationalmanufacturingday.org) and we will be adding resources, ideas on how to organise an event in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the website.

Make UK will again partner with the government’s Department for Education which will publicise the events in all schools, colleges and training centres – the events will be easy to find using the postcode finder on the National Manufacturing Day website. The Department for Work and Pensions will also display the events in all job centres, while working with companies to arrange bespoke interviews on the day for specific vacancies you may have.

One hint from last year – invite your local schools and colleges as soon as possible so they can plan your visit into their activity schedules for the year, schools usually plan at least six months in advance. Here is a template letter to help you do this: Manufacturers Resources | NMD 2024 (nationalmanufacturingday.org)
