Setco Automotive is a manufacturer of clutches for commercial vehicle applications, under the brand name of ‘Lipe Clutch’.
The facility in Rossendale, Lancashire, was set up in 1973 and quickly established itself as the clutch supplier of choice to the UK original equipment truck manufacturers including ERF, Foden and Seddon Atkinson. Due to this strong heritage, the business now has 250 UK customers plus a growing number of customers internationally, supplying the aftermarket, OE and OES business segments.
In 1999, the Lipe clutch product was licensed for manufacture in India. Due to the exceptional durability of the product across the particularly harsh driving conditions in India, this market flourished. Today, 80% of all new trucks manufactured in India are fitted with a Lipe clutch, totalling over 50,000 units per month to customers including Tata and Daimler.
The facility in Rossendale can manufacture specialised one-offs or production quantities to service OEM demand, and has its own engineering department on site to design, develop and test the next generation of clutch products.
The Rossendale facility is proud of its world-class management system certifications, including ISO/TS 16949 and OHSAS 18001.
