    Company Profile
Established in 1999 Oaktec is an innovation specialist in low carbon vehicle technologies.
We have expertise, knowledge and new concepts for the development of hybrid systems, validated by competing and winning in both motorsport and fuel efficiency competitions. Our low carbon hybrid motorsport project was supported by EEMS, Honda UK and Bosch and resulted in 22 stage rally class wins and 2 rally championships beating a field of conventional special stage rally cars.

Oaktec is developing a novel low cost internal combustion engine concept with improved efficiency called PULSAR that is especially suited to burning gaseous fuels including bio-methane. The first working prototypes were built in 2000 and the project is now being further developed.
NEW for 2014…..In the PREMO project Oaktec is developing ‘PULSAR Version 2’ with support from NVN. The engine concept has been modelled in Ricardo WAVE and the new prototype gas engine is producing very encouraging power and BSFC results in dyno testing.

Oaktec are one of 5 partner companies in the TSB funded CYD project developing a safe, low cost, low carbon vehicle platform for young drivers. Our responsibility within this project is to develop a low cost, light weight power train and will prototype both a combustion engine and hybrid solution.

With GOTec we are developing GOKERS, an energy harvesting technology that uses super capacitors as a power buffer interfaced with batteries through a novel, light weight high speed power inverter.

In partnership with MIRA and Dalaero and supported by NVN Oaktec were project leaders in the ASTAN project that is investigated the aerodynamic potential of a tandem seat small car. The ASTAN platform achieved Cd 0.185 and will be used to demonstrate Oaktec’s power train innovations.

Oaktec is committed to creating and developing new products through working with clusters of compatible enterprises and to take concepts to market by collaborating with UK based manufacturing organisations.

Oaktec is looking to exploit PULSAR with a manufacturing partner with interest in developing a highly efficient small gas fuelled engine for low cost mass market applications.
